Workers Union Ensemble will collaborate with New Dots on a project in April 2016. We will premiere new works by three composers selected from a call for scores: Monica Dalach, Camilo Andrés Méndez San Juan and Nick Morrish Rarity. Just got back from an excellent, but tiring, Sound and Music supported tour conducting the Workers Union Ensemble. Was great to play new works by various composers and to perform Simon Steen-Andersen’s On And Off And To And Fro four times. Here is a recording of my new work for the ensemble, Zeros and Ones:
Workers Union Ensemble have been selected for Sound and Music’s Composer-Curator Programme for 2014/2015, which is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
We will tour Simon Steen Andersen’s On And Off And To And Fro (2008) for soprano saxophone, double bass, vibraphone and three players with megaphones alongside five new commissions. I will be on conducting duties as usual and will also pen a new piece for my Workers mates!
I have just finished a mini-tour with the group I am fortunate enough to conduct Workers Union Ensemble. We performed at Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton, Birmingham Conservatoire and a final gig at LSO St. Luke’s in London. I can honestly say it has been totally brilliant to work with all in the ensemble and composers we commissioned on our ‘Constructing a Repertoire’ project. Can’t wait for future adventures!! The Workers Union Ensemble have just announced our Call for Works 2013, part of our PRS for Music Foundation funded ‘Constructing a Repertoire’ commissioning project. We are really pleased to be teaming up with LSO Soundhub to offer the chance for up to four composers to have their works performed and recorded at our LSO St Luke’s gig in November 2013.
The deadline for emailing us your new scores is 5th July 2013 so composers get cracking!

Workers Union Ensemble
The Workers Union Ensemble will perform at the legendary Turner Sims Concert Hall at 1pm, 30th April 2012. The programme includes my own Ripped Up, pieces by by Adam Fergler, Michael Finnissy, Matthew Kaner and a brand new work by Ryan Latimer.

We have some exciting gigs coming up later in the year in the Turner Sims Concert Hall (April) and at the Sounds New Festival (May). More details to follow!
