I had a great time working with the fantastic musicians from the London Sinfonietta Academy 2016 a couple of weeks ago. Due to illness I ended up conducting my new work for large ensemble Beasts Bounding Through Time. Here is the recording of the premiere:

I’ve finally managed to edit together the video for ‘Separately Together’ from my Rambert mini-residency in September. Here it is!
Piano Trio (with whistles)
Piano Trio (with whistles), which was commissioned by the Deal Festival, was premiered by the fantastic trio of Maksim Štšura (piano), Michael Foyle (violin) and Raphael Lang last Friday. Aaron Holloway-Nahum, director of the excellent Riot Ensemble, has just put up a recording of my Riot and Juice Vocal Ensemble commissioned piece ‘Songs for Stanley’. The recording is from Juice’s performance earlier this year at the Wednesdays at the Forge series.
Elizabeth Kenny performance of ‘Extending from the Inside’
The amazing Elizabeth Kenny played my ‘Extending from the inside’ for solo theorbo at the Turner Sims recently. Her performance was up there with the very best performances of my work EVER!
The Thing
The video and audio of ‘The Thing’ for tuba and distortion, which was commissioned by the London Sinfonietta and premiered at the BFI in December 2014. The video was made in response to my piece by some excellent students at Central St Martins. I’m not quite sure how they got the audio…!
New Recording of ‘Three Materials’
The fantastic pianist Yshani Perinpanayagam has made a new recording of my piece for solo piano and Blu-Tack preparations, Three Materials. She played the piece at the Workers Union Ensemble Nonclassical gig last year and I’m delighted she’s now recorded it too. Thanks Yshani!
Lullaby for Joni Recording
‘Lullaby for Joni’ was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s ‘Hear and Now’, played by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Garry Walker. The piece was commissioned by Sound and Music as part of an ‘Embedded’ residency with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and you can now hear it here (!):
Workers Union Ensemble Autumn Activities
I have just finished a mini-tour with the group I am fortunate enough to conduct Workers Union Ensemble. We performed at Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton, Birmingham Conservatoire and a final gig at LSO St. Luke’s in London. I can honestly say it has been totally brilliant to work with all in the ensemble and composers we commissioned on our ‘Constructing a Repertoire’ project. Can’t wait for future adventures!! For now here are some recordings from our Birmingham gig…
Reading Phoenix Choir release recording of Debussy’s ‘Des pas sur la neige’
In 2011 David Crown, conductor of the Reading Phoenix Choir, commissioned me to do an arrangement for choir. I had free reign to chose what I wanted to do and set about arranging one of my favourite Debussy Piano Preludes, Des pas sur la neige. The choir have since sung the arrangement in several concerts, recorded it and released it on their label. You can read a review of one of the concerts here, buy their CD from Amazon/iTunes or listen on Spotify:
I would be keen to hear from any other choirs interested in performing the work in the future.
